Applying — Step-By-Step
- Apply through your home province/territory (where you lived for 12+ consecutive months, excluding full-time student time). Each province has its own application process and timeline. Applying automatically considers you for a Canada Student Loan. (Saskatchewan application info available on the Saskatchewan website.) Government of Saskatchewan
- Apply early. Processing commonly takes 4–6 weeks — submit as soon as you know you will attend Logan College and need funding.
- Students with permanent disabilities. Additional federal/provincial programs exist (Canada Student Grants and supports); see the Government of Canada for details. Government of Canada
Part-time students: Federal part-time loans/grants are available; the federal government pays interest on in-study part-time loans (policy in place since Jan 1, 2012). Maximum part-time loan total is $10,000. Government of Canada
Receiving your funds — what happens next
Register full-time for the study period on your assessment letter; Logan College cannot confirm enrolment for loan disbursement unless you are registered.
Loans and grants are normally applied first to tuition and mandatory fees, then any remaining funds are disbursed to you. Check your Logan College student portal to confirm there’s no outstanding balance.
If paying tuition with an alternate method (e.g., credit card), make those payments before loan confirmation cutoff (e.g., 21 days before study period starts) to avoid remittance from your loan.
MSFAA (Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement)
A once-only agreement you must sign and return to the NSLSC (instructions will be provided). After NSLSC receives the signed MSFAA and confirms ID, they will confirm enrollment and release funds (usually within 7–10 business days).CSNPE NSLSC
Keep your loans interest-free while in school
Loans remain interest-free while you are a full-time student. If you stop being enrolled full-time, notify your loan provider(s) or you may lose interest-free status.
If you take out a new loan and are registered full-time, Logan College will normally confirm your enrollment to your loan providers automatically. If you are not taking a new loan, provide Confirmation of Enrolment (Schedule 2) to the loan providers within six months of the previous study period to retain interest-free status. For integrated Canada/provincial loans or Canada Student Loans, submit confirmation via the NSLSC online services.. Government of Canada
Repayment — when it starts & your options
Repayment begins six months after the end of your full-time study period (graduation, transfer to part-time, withdrawal, or leave). This is called loan consolidation.
The NSLSC will send a Consolidation Letter with repayment terms and your minimum monthly payment. You can revise payments via your NSLSC account..CSNPE NSLSC
Note: Interest on Saskatchewan Student Loans accumulates during the six-month non-repayment period and any unpaid interest will be capitalized at consolidation. Your first scheduled payment is due on the first day of the seventh month after your study end date.. Pubsaskdev
Repayment Assistance (RAP) & supports
If you have trouble making payments, the Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP) can help reduce or suspend monthly payments based on income and family size. You can apply as soon as you begin repayment and must reapply every six months to remain on the plan.Learn how RAP works and how to apply through the NSLSC or the Government of Canada pages.Government of Canada+1
- May reduce monthly payments to an affordable amount (sometimes to $0) depending on income & family size.
- If eligible for RAP for a long period, the government may start paying down principal and remaining interest after certain time thresholds.Government of Canada
Students with Permanent Disabilities
Students with permanent disabilities may qualify for enhanced grants, service/equipment funding, and other support. Federal and provincial programs are available; see the Government of Canada page about student aid for students with disabilities for details on eligibility and amounts.Government of Canada+1
Important notes for multi-institution & open learning students
- Dual registration: If your full course load is split between institutions but totals a full-time load, complete the dual registration form.
- Open learning: You must maintain continuous registration for the study period. Saskatchewan Student Aid allows no break in study longer than three consecutive weeks (21 days); provincial rules may vary.
