Program Description

This 28-week certificate program prepares you for an exciting career in garment design and working in the fashion industry. This program focuses on pattern drafting and sewing skills. You will use modern sewing machines and learn the necessary skills of technical illustration, pattern making, pattern grading and clothing construction. Additional core subjects include textiles, technical specifications and history of costume.

Full Description

In the 28-week program, you will focus mainly on women’s wear. The learning environment is similar to many industry standards, practices and facilities. The program provides subject areas, such as portfolio development and mass production. We offer courses that reflect industry trends, including pattern drafting and pattern grading. 

Motivated students will showcase their work at our annual special event. As part of the program, you will also have the opportunity to network with industry professionals, participate in photoshoots and work on applied research projects.

Note: This is a full-time program, 4 days a week. Enrollment is continuous but with limited seating availability. Refer to continuous enrollment start dates and available seats.

Program requirements: All classes are in person. This program requires you to have access to a personal laptop and reliable internet access to enhance your learning experience.

Graduates of the Fashion Design program at Logan College will demonstrate the following skills, knowledge, and professional abilities:

    This course provides an introduction to entrepreneurship, equipping students with the essential skills to enter the business market. It covers key concepts in business planning, from the initial steps to launching a business, and emphasizes professional etiquette standards to help students succeed in their new ventures.

    Present creative concepts, product specifications, and design materials using professional visual tools and methods.

    Apply supply chain and logistics principles to ensure efficient, sustainable, and profitable fashion business operations.

Admission Requirements For Logan College

Applicants are selected based on their overall academic performance and ability to meet the program’s entry criteria as outlined below.

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 (or equivalent) from a recognized secondary school.
  • minimum of one English language course at the Grade 10 level (or equivalent).
  • basic understanding of mathematics at the secondary school level is recommended.
  • Computer literacy, including basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, is strongly recommended.

Mature Applicants:
Applicants who are 19 years of age or older and who have not completed Grade 12 may be considered for admission as mature students. Mature applicants may be required to complete an English and Math assessment or provide evidence of equivalent skills and knowledge.

Important:
Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee acceptance. Logan College carefully reviews each application to ensure that students are well-prepared for their chosen program.

Note:
Students who begin their program in January (Winter Intake) may be required to continue their studies through the summer months (May to August) to complete all program requirements.

International Students
At this time, Logan College does not accept international students or issue study permits under the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) program. All applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or individuals legally authorized to study in Canada.

Admission Process Summary
At Logan College, applying is simple and personalized. Students can submit their application online or through our Admissions Office, along with proof of high school completion and valid photo identification. Mature applicants without a high school diploma may complete an English or Math assessment to demonstrate readiness. Once your application is reviewed, successful candidates receive a Letter of Acceptance and can confirm their seat by submitting a registration deposit.

Applicants can apply directly to Logan College by completing the online application form available on the college website or by contacting the Admissions Office for a printable version.

Step 2: Provide Supporting Documents
Submit copies of the following documents along with your application:
Proof of high school completion (Grade 12 transcript or equivalent)
Government-issued photo identification
Any relevant certificates or post-secondary transcripts (if applicable)

Step 3: Assessment and Interview
Some applicants, particularly those applying under Mature Student Status, may be required to complete an English and/or Math assessment or participate in an admissions interview to determine program readiness.

Once all documents and assessments are reviewed, the Admissions Office will issue a Letter of Acceptance to successful applicants. A registration deposit may be required to confirm your seat in the program.
